We're working hard to get the word out about our new church. We've had some successful community events and will be planning more. Keep checking this website to learn how you can be involved in this exciting new ministry!
What is Spirit Song?
We believe that God has given every believer a “spirit song” that is uniquely theirs, a combination of spiritual gifts, a sense of calling, and a vision of who they can be as they grow deeper in their personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. A person’s “spirit song” is that unique expression of the Holy Spirit at work within each of us that draws us to the heart of God and fires our passion to love and serve others. Come and let us help you discover your "spirit song" as you grow deeper in faith.
Celebrate Our Nation's Independence on the 4th and then Celebrate Your Independence on the 5th!
This weekend we will celebrate our nation's independence with family gatherings and fireworks. The 4th of July is always an exciting time. But even as we celebrate our freedom as a country, many of us are struggling with that same issue in our own lives. Many of us are unwilling or unable to take control of our own lives, to achieve personal independence. We let others control us. Or we let drugs or alcohol or some other addictive behavior control us. To a certain extent, we all are dependent on the thoughts, feelings, judgments and expectations of other people. Can we take control of our lives? Can we make our own declaration of independence? This Sunday we’re going to talk about this very idea. The good news is that you don't have to live your life enslaved to the thoughts, opinions and expectations of others. This is not the way God wants you to live. In fact, God wants you to be independent. Simply put, that means taking control of your life away from others and giving it to God. Taking control of our own life frees us from the expectations of others, and empowers us to live a life committed to God. Come find out this Sunday how to make your own "Declaration of Independence."
Annual Conference Celebrates 25th Anniversary
The Desert Southwest Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church celebrated its 25th anniversary this past week. Annual Conference brings together over 600 pastors and laity from every church in our conference (Arizona and Southern Nevada) for four days of worship, meetings and fellowship. Heather Farrier (pictured) represented Spirit Song as our lay member to Annual Conference. After meeting for several years in Scottsdale, the conference was hosted this year at the Renaissance Hotel in Glendale (near the Jobing.com Arena). Heather will share her report of Annual Conference during worship on July 12th. For more information check the Desert Southwest Annual Conference website.

EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) Now Available
Good news for those who would like to have their offerings to the church automatically deducted from their checking account. EFT is now available! This service allows members to be more consistent and faithful in their giving. Plus -- no checks to write! This electronic system benefits the church with fewer checks to process, more efficient bookkeeping and more consistent income to "level out" seasonal slumps. All you have to do to participate is to fill out an authorization form (available on the Information Table or from Cindy Benson). Contact Cindy if you have questions or need assistance.
