Boy, Are My Feet Tired!
Boy, are my feet sore! Our community canvass team went out this morning and hung doorhangers on approximately 1200 homes in a new area called West Wing Mountain. Some of the homes are in the foothills of the nearby mountains and I think that’s what did me in – it was pretty hilly. But the weather was beautiful – perfectly blue skies, sunny and the temperatures starting out were in the 60’s.
Our group numbered about 15, including a great group of seniors from Sun City who donned their hiking gear for the canvass. We decided since it was pretty early just to hang the doorhangers rather than knocking on doors and possibly waking people up. My eleven year old grandson Cody went with me and did a great job. We met a few early risers and while no one signed up on the spot to be a new member of our church (which I certainly didn’t expect – although it would’ve been nice), everyone seemed quite pleased to see us and know that a new church was coming to our community.
I’m going out again on Monday and Tuesday with one or two helpers and we should be able to get the rest of the doorhangers (about 500) distributed. It wasn’t that big a job (Cody and I did about 150 homes in an hour) and gives me hope that with some more help we can do 3,000 homes in our next canvass in December.
Now I just hope that we get a few people to attend our “Community Conversations” the next two Sunday afternoons and start to get some things going. Keep us in your prayers!
