Small Signs of Progess
When you're just starting out in planting a new church even small signs of progress can be encouraging. This website has a lot of nice features including the ability to track visitors. I'm sure you've seen websites which have a little box that counts how many "hits" that website has received. But counting "hits" is really pretty meaningless. What you really want to know is how many unique "visitors" have entered your website. Every time you enter the Spirit Song website you are counted as a visitor. Every time you access a page you can cause any number of hits depending on how many files the computer needs to download in order to display that one page. It's not unusual that a busy webpage filled with graphics to generate dozens of "hits." So you can see that counting hits does not give you a very accurate count of your visitors.
Having said all this, I'm thrilled that over the last couple of days the number of visitors to the Spirit Song has increased dramatically -- from an average of 15-20 to over 60 per day. Still not a lot, but as I said, even small signs of progress are encouraging at this stage. Word is getting out as I preach at different churches and talk to different people. Since regular Sunday morning worship is still many months away, my main task now is to get people to this website and hopefully build some interest and excitement in what we are planning to do together as a church.
