Writer's Block

I’ve had a case of writer’s block the past couple of weeks. I thought writing a blog would be easy. After all, there’s always something going on, either in the news or in my life, I could put forth an opinion on. But after a good start last fall when I was writing a blog entry every other day or, I’m finding it a challenge to write even one a week.

Part of the problem is that I’ve exhausted most of my personal history. Besides, my life is just not that interesting. As a pastor I probably could write on religious themes, but I’ve always felt the real value of a blog was to help people to get to know me—to let people in to my little world. And so I’ve shared my thoughts on a wide variety of things, hoping that they would shed a little light on my personality, interests and feelings.

I guess “little” is the right word, because quite frankly I’m a pretty private person and I’ve shared only what I’ve felt comfortable with. I guess my thinking was, in starting a new church, some people would like to know a little bit about the pastor, beyond the professional bio and picture. I’ve written 30 blogs since last August and now you know a few things about my family, my hobbies, my interests and some of my experiences as a church planter and pastor.

I plan to keep writing, as long as I can find things to say. I have no idea how many people are actually reading these (my wife says she does occasionally). But it’s a good exercise and I’ll keep doing it as long as I enjoy it. I hope you do too.

Blessings,

Steve

I enjoy your blogs immensely. I don't read every day but when I do I read all that I've missed. Keep up the good words. This New Song member thinks you're awesome.
