“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves
full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am
the worst.” (1 Timothy 1:15)
Devotion: Paul calls himself the
worst of sinners. We might find that hard to believe considering all the great
work Paul did in the name of Christ. And yet we can resonate with Paul’s words
for surely there are times when we feel unworthy of the sacrifice Christ made
for each one of us on the cross. For we have all sinned, and continue to sin,
and yet Christ came and died to save us from our sin. That is the incredible
love of God – that he would give his very life for an undeserving humanity.
Prayer: O God, I am unworthy of
your love. I humbly confess my sins to you and seek your mercy and forgiveness.
Thank you for loving me enough to die for me and to make possible my salvation
through Jesus Christ. Amen.
