“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be
wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord…” (Acts 3:19)
Devotion: When we repent of our sins and turn to God, God
promises to not only forgive our sins – wiping them out as if they had never
existed – but God also promises that we will be spiritually refreshed.
Repenting of our sins can be painful, but the result is a washing away of guilt
and shame that leaves us clean and refreshed, ready to live the abundant life
that we have been promised. Don’t hold onto your past sins for they will
produce only guilt and bitterness. Let them go by giving them to God, trusting
in his great mercy and the power of his forgiving love.
Prayer: Forgive me, O God, for all my sins, past and
present. By your mercy and the power of your love take away all my guilt and
shame. Grant me your peace, your grace, and your blessing. Amen.
