Harmony Groups

As we sing our "spirit song" we need to learn to sing it in harmony with others -- by building relationships with others that in turn help build a deeper relationship with God.

What is a "Harmony Group"? (Hint: It is more than just a Bible study)
A Harmony group is a small group of 10-12 people who meet weekly in the comfort of people's homes for the purpose of promoting personal and congregational spiritual growth. Harmony groups include four important components -- sharing in worship and Bible teaching, prayer, fellowship and service. Rev. Steve Marshall leads all of the Harmony groups with help from the host families. Harmony Groups are "open" and you are welcome to attend any harmony group at any time. Once every 4-6 weeks one Harmony gathering will have a  "fun" emphasis with games, BBQ or other activities. Members are always encouraged to bring friends.

Why are Harmony Groups so important?
Studies show that for those whose needs are being met, small groups are the most important event that happens weekly in the local church. The Wesley Class System gives us an early model. John Wesley utilized small groups called "classes" effectively as the primary means of evangelizing and discipling people in England during the great Wesleyan Revival of the 18th century. The class meeting became the heart of the Methodist movement. It was in these meetings, rather than at preaching events, where the great majority of conversions took place. The small group model revives the Wesleyan class system for a new generation.

Small Groups Help Meet the Needs of Modern People:
We believe that small groups are best suited to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of all generations. Research shows that the major needs and concerns of people today include a hunger for intimacy, a lack of life skills, family concerns and a search for meaning and purpose in life. People are in search of spiritual values and have not always found it in traditional church settings.

Spirit Song's "Harmony Groups" are the primary unit of the church where personal relationships are formed, discipling takes place, loving care and support are experienced and nurtured, and where basic human and spiritual needs are met. This is where the work of the church is done, where spiritual giftedness is ascertained and developed, and where people are trained and released for ministry.

Harmony Groups

Because of summer vacations, our Harmony groups will be on hiatus during July and will resume in August.
